Quimera / Chimera

Este es el primer trabajo que he hecho para la asignatura de Ilustración, impartida por Juan Manuel Calle (mi tutor del máster) y Manuel Castro. Es una quimera donde mezclo una carpa, una libélula y un cuervo. La técnica es acuarela, lápices de color y algo de photoshop.

This is the first work done for the subject of Illustration, teached by Juan Manuel Calle (my tutor) and Manuel Castro. It's a chimera in which I mix a carp, a dragonfly and a raven. It's done in watercolour, colour pencils and a bit of photoshop.

Ayer me llegó mi nueva caja de Winsor and Newton de gama artists. Así que para poder probar la viveza de sus hermosos colores, hice este pequeño boceto de mi nuevo personaje, Sam, y tras el escaneado (Iluminados a 255, medios tonos a 1 y sombras a 0, como siempre escaneo), no he retocado un ápice para que veais la belleza de los colores de estas acuarelas. Eso sí, cometí el pequeño error (o más bien novatada) de usar amarillo en lugar de ocre. El ocre siempre es menos chirriante. No volverá a pasar.

Yesterday I got my new box of Winsor and Newton watercolour, of the artists range. To can try the colourful tones that it has got, I did this little sketch of my new character, Sam, and after the scanning (Lights at 255, middle tones at 1 and shadows at 0, like I always do), I haven't retouched it to can show the beauty of the colour of these watercolours. I commited the little mistake of to use yellow instead ochre. Ochre is always less scratchy. I won't do anymore.

Al final, el joven redneck del post anterior se ha terminado convirtiendo en el protagonista de mi próximo proyecto de cómic. Para él tengo pensado un proyecto de un cómic de un único volumen de formato de cómic europeo. Aquí lo dibujo al inicio de la historia, cuando, con 20 años, nos relata su vida pasada. Como veis, aquí ha perdido su aire del sur profundo por otro un poco más urbano. En el post pasado lo veíamos a los 14 años.

Finally, the young redneck from the last post has been transformed into the main character of my next comic project. For him, I've thought in a project of comic of one volume in European format. Here is in the starting of the story, when he's 20 years old and starts to tell us his past life. Like you can see, here he has lost his deep southern looking for a more urban one. In the last post he has got 14 years old.

WIP: Maratón // Marathon

Un pequeño adelanto, para no dejar este blog muy colgado. Últimamente me hallo metido en un proyecto de cómic corto como trabajo final de la asignatura de Narración Plástica de mi master (y por eso apenas he hallado tiempo de hacer nuevas ilustraciones). El cómic, titulado "Maratón", narra la hazaña del héroe griego Filípides por salvar Atenas de ser inmolada antes de caer en manos persas. Aquí os dejo un boceto de la portada.

A little advance to don't leave the blog very abandoned. Lately I'm into a short comic project like final work of the subject "Plastic Narrative" of my master (and for that, I haven't had many time for new illustrations). The cómic, titled "Marathon", tell the adventure of Pheidippides to save Athens of being inmolated to keep it away of the persians' hands. Here you have got a sketch of the cover.

Águila calva // Bald Eagle

Primer post del año, un águila calva que hice a acuarela, para probar algunos materiales. He de decir que el escáner quema un poco algunos tonos. ¡En real se ve más bonito!

First post of this year, a bald eagle that I did in watercolours to try some materials. I've to say that the scanner "kills" a bit some tones, so in real is nicer!
